Lakme Fashion Week Day 1 began with extravagant collection on March 20, 2016. Inherently Art, and all things French, this season, Quirk Box drew its inspirations from a French Art and Fashion era revisited. Highly detailed and classic hand illustrations of Vintage Fashion Objects and Sewing Machines depicting French Couture, along with Cross Stitch as an Embroidered and Typographic Illustration forms the depth of our SS16 collection. The essence of this being an Art collection, draws the humour and irony in the “This is not Fashion” motif.
Vintage Upholstery inspires the colour palette, off-white, ecru, indigo, crimson, black with delicate cross stitch embroidery to interpret the ideology of the label. Quirk Box’s resort collection echoes comfort and tranquillity. Fabrics that breathe, cottons, linens, and cotton silks, Silhouettes designed for summer travel, breezy, fluid, slouchy and oh so relaxed.
Dreamy French tunes were played throughout the show hinting at an era bygone with an opening visual which read, “This is not a fashion show. This is an art gallery. These are not clothes. These are canvases of art. When you wear this piece of clothing, you are not wearing fashion, but art – by putting this on, you become a walking, moving, gallery of imagination. This is not fashion. This is art. Be art.”
This collection emphasised on the idea that Art is the New Black.
