LFW Summer/Resort 2016 Day 2: Swati Kalsi Showcases Sujani Embroidery Through ‘Monad’ Collection!

The first show of Day 2 at Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2016 ended with designer Swati Kalsi‘s collection on March 31, 2016.

When it comes to a collection dedicated to textiles and craft, Swati Kalsi is the master of the genre. Her range ‘Monad’ at Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2016 was an ode to the beauty of the traditional Sujani embroidery and fabulous hand-woven fabrics.

Working around luxurious global inspired silhouettes over a variety of cultures, Swati revealed her creative magic in gorgeous hues of black, ivory, camel, grey and madder. The hand-woven textiles were the ever popular tussar and Gicha silk, cotton and cotton silk, while for some sheer glamour there was silk organza. The Sujani embroidery worked its delicate magic on the garments turning them into feminine fashion offerings.

Opening the show with a black shaded soft coat over skirt, the collection moved to sheer tie-up dress and cropped pants, kurta with ankle length parallels, bell sleeve short wrap, maroon/gold flecked loose smock and an off-shoulder maroon top and wrap pants. An interesting halter black creation with a tie-up trail for the shoulders gave western wear a new dimension. Shirt kurtas looked trendy with capris and the final sari-drape dress in black and beige was an intricate construction story.

For women who love to merge craft and traditional textiles in their wardrobes, Swati Kalsi’s ‘Monad’ collection will be the ultimate addition.
